Aerospace Specialist - Anodize Operator - 1st Shift

Specialist Anodize Operator - 1st Shift
Reports to: Value Stream Manager
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
Schedule: This Position is for 1st Shift
Hytek production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.), 3rd shift (Sunday - Friday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

Job Summary

Employees in this position will excel at processing a variety of parts in our Anodize department. Specialist Anodize Operators will be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program*. The Anodize Operators perform operations in accordance with Military, Industry and OEM specifications.

* FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with other Operators and Assistants to complete work and prioritize tasks for On-Time delivery.
  • Create or Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders and drawings, and instructions from other Operators to prepare and process parts; prepare, understand, and document technique cards.
  • Prepare parts prior accordingly per operational instructions including racking, using proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
  • Legibly sign off on work once completed and provide high level of Self Verification inspection per each process order.
  • General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Must have a high knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Must have familiarity with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
  • Must be familiar with engineering drawing notations.
  • Must be familiar with the safety precautions & know how to avoid injury to personnel.
  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service. Be involved in Kaizen events as needed either as a participant or supporter.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Other duties as assigned, which is not limited to training others at the operator trainee or assistant level towards operational excellence in supporting the Anodize department sufficiently.

Qualifications
  • Ability to join the FAA Repair Station program, including the FAA Drug & Alcohol random selection pool.
  • Required to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally).
  • Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to multi task effectively.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write Communicate in English with Customers and auditors.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in Anodizing in both Sulfuric and Boric process.
  • 1 year in a team lead/leadership role preferred.

  • Ability to lift occasionally: (floor to knee) 114 lbs., (waist to waist) 63 lbs., (floor, knee, to waist) 75 lbs., (waist to shoulder) 30 lbs.

  • Ability to pivot, twist, pinch occasionally
  • Ability to grasp frequently
  • Ability to see/hear/feel constantly - hearing protection required when working in the area

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, safety glasses and hearing protection are required.

Salary Range for position: $15.74 - $45.00 *Hourly rate is DOE, dependent upon experience in years and/or combination of years of experience with higher education.
