At Hyspan Precision Products (www.hyspan.com), we are the leader in expansion joint and bellows technology and manufacturing worldwide. We’re seeking a qualified assistant controller who can help manage our accounting function for our various global entities.
Responsibilities
- Treasury
- Prepare and consolidate accurate financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Provide timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analyses and reports for management and stakeholders.
- Conduct in-depth variance analysis, identifying and investigating discrepancies in financial records.
- Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper classification.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the Controller and other departments in developing the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance against the budget and provide insightful reporting on variances.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Coordinate or assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local accounting and tax regulations, including sales tax filings.
- General Ledger and Accounting Operations:
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including reconciliations and maintenance.
- Oversee and support accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Research and resolve complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Process Improvement and System Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting department and implement streamlined procedures.
- Work closely with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes, especially those involving MAS.
- Leverage expertise in Excel (including Macros) to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
- Utilize SQL knowledge to extract, manipulate, and analyze financial data from the accounting system (likely MAS) for reporting and ad-hoc analysis.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
- Cost accounting and manufacturing experience is required.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Prior experience working with MAS accounting software is desirable.
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and Macros for data manipulation and automation.
- Strong knowledge of SQL for querying and extracting data from databases.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented and accurate, with a commitment to maintaining the integrity of financial records.
