Electrical Purchasing Agent

Hypower has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Electrical Purchasing Agent to join our team!

We're seeking a proactive and organized self-starter to support our Commercial Electrical Division. Prior experience with electrical purchasing is required, and familiarity with Smartsheets and Spectrum is highly desirable. The salary is $60,000 - $85,000.00 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Summary

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for processing material and master buyout requisitions and issuing related purchase orders. This role involves evaluating pricing and availability, tracking orders, and ensuring timely delivery to job sites or prefabrication shops. The position plays a key role in material procurement and vendor coordination, supporting both field operations and project budgets.

Key Responsibilities

Material Purchasing & Logistics

• Place miscellaneous and prefab material orders.
• Issue and manage purchase orders based on project needs and field requests.
• Assist in processing material releases from POs.
• Track and confirm all material deliveries to prefab and job sites.
• Maintain backorder logs for miscellaneous purchases and PO releases.
• Coordinate tool purchases and deliveries.
• Process and manage material returns.
• Assist in forecasting material costs and budget tracking.
• Review and reconcile invoices; identify cost-saving opportunities.

Vendor & Supplier Management

• Source and procure electrical materials, tools, and equipment (e.g., conduit, switchgear, lighting, panels).
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms to secure best-value deals.
• Evaluate vendor performance in terms of quality, reliability, and service.

Project & Operational Support

• Expedite submittal and approval processes to maintain schedule deadlines.
• Collaborate with field teams, warehouse staff, and project management to align deliveries with jobsite needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical purchasing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Experience with Smartsheets, Spectrum, and related purchasing platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
