About HYPERLABS

HYPERLABS is a Colorado-based electronics test and measurement company that designs and manufactures high-performance RF, microwave, and high-speed data products for customers worldwide.

We are seeking a motivated RF/Microwave Test Engineer I to join our growing engineering and manufacturing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent electrical engineering graduate or early-career engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and learning advanced measurement technologies.

Previous professional RF or microwave experience is not required. We provide hands-on training in precision measurements, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and automated testing.

Position Summary

The RF/Microwave Test Engineer I will support production testing, product verification, troubleshooting, and engineering development activities.

Initial responsibilities will focus on learning established test procedures, operating precision RF measurement equipment, and documenting results. As technical skills develop, responsibilities will expand to include troubleshooting, prototype evaluation, LabVIEW programming, and automated test development.

This position requires excellent hands-on mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn specialized engineering techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

RF and Microwave Testing

  • Learn to set up, calibrate, and operate vector network analyzers (VNAs) and other precision RF measurement equipment.
  • Perform production testing using established procedures and product specifications.
  • Develop proficiency in S-parameter measurements, including insertion loss, return loss, isolation, amplitude balance, and phase balance.
  • Perform measurements through 70 GHz, with opportunities to work at 110 GHz and higher.
  • Learn to operate sampling oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and other laboratory instrumentation.
  • Assist with prototype testing, characterization, and evaluation.
  • Accurately document test results and identify products that do not meet specifications.

Troubleshooting and Laboratory Support

  • Troubleshoot electronic products, measurement setups, cables, connectors, calibration issues, and test fixtures.
  • Perform careful handling, assembly, and inspection of small precision RF and microwave components.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain test equipment, calibration kits, fixtures, and laboratory work areas.
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to resolve technical issues and support production schedules.

Test Automation and LabVIEW

LabVIEW is an important part of this position. Previous experience is not required, but the successful candidate must demonstrate programming aptitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Learn LabVIEW programming for instrument control, data acquisition, and automated testing.
  • Assist with developing, modifying, debugging, and maintaining automated test applications.
  • Learn instrument communication using USB, Ethernet, GPIB, and other interfaces.
  • Help convert manual measurement procedures into repeatable automated tests.
  • Improve test efficiency, measurement repeatability, and automated reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Recent graduates and candidates with 0–2 years of professional experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Fundamental understanding of electronic circuits, components, and electrical measurements.
  • Excellent hands-on mechanical skills, mechanical aptitude, and manual dexterity, including the ability to carefully handle, assemble, and manipulate small precision components and connectors.
  • Experience using basic electronic laboratory equipment through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated programming aptitude and willingness to learn LabVIEW.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and systematic troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and technicians.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or laboratory experience in RF engineering, microwave engineering, transmission lines, or high-speed electronics.
  • Familiarity with S-parameters, impedance matching, or vector network analyzers.
  • Programming experience with LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, C/C , or similar languages.
  • Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, electronic troubleshooting, or prototype development.
  • Internship, senior design, or personal project experience involving hands-on electronics or automated measurements.

Professional RF, microwave, or LabVIEW experience is not required. We value technical aptitude, strong hands-on skills, curiosity, and the ability to learn.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 annually, depending on education, relevant experience, and demonstrated technical abilities.

HYPERLABS offers:
