Area Manager
Department: Production Department FLSA: To Be Determined
Reports To: Department Manager Supervises: Production Team
Salary based on education, skills and experience.
Position Summary
Directs production and maintenance operations to maximize production, quality, safety and cost reduction within the designated production area.
General Qualifications
Education/Knowledge:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- College education preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- SAP experience helpful
- Interpersonal communication skills
Experience (required and preferred):
- Plant experience in: safety, quality, and manufacturing
- Managerial skill with the ability to lead people (5 years)
- Problem solver by analyzing data and systems implementation
- Worked in union environment
- ISO 9000/14000 experience
Skills (required and preferred):
- Strong communication skills
- Mechanical Skills (will assist with trouble-shooting machine issues)
- Agreeable to learning and performing all positions within assigned department
- Get tasks accomplished through team building
- Good listening skills
- Conflict resolution
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast paced environment
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, and speech are required. Manual dexterity is necessary. Ability to climb stairs as needed. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. May be required to work in hot/cold environments.
Essential Functions
- Direct, assign and coordinate work activities for the team in a specific work area
- Enforce all company guidelines and policies
- Address associate performance issues as needed
- Maintain safe and clean department
- Meet weekly, monthly and annual goals of the department for safety, quality, waste, productivity etc.
- Listen to and develop associates when required
- Resolve employee issues as needed which includes meeting with union officials without going through the grievance procedures
- Ensure all operators are properly trained in the correct methods of the job
- May be required to communicate with customers to ensure product quality and delivery
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly inventories
- Attend all required training to enhance personal skills
- Performs other duties as required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
