With rapid growth comes opportunity. We are looking for a Sr. Applications Scientist to join our team in Delaware.
Responsibilities:
- Performs experiments using microbiological, biochemical and molecular based techniques to detect and identify microorganisms from food or other sample types. Studies will involve preparation of the project plans, timeline, experimental set up, experimental work using microbiological methods (molecular, culture, ID, bioluminescence, immunoassay) according to internal procedures or standards. Studies involve contaminants detection as well such as allergens or mycotoxins using immunoassays. It includes feasibility, R&D verification/validation, troubleshooting, instrument program customization, new technology evaluation.
- Responsible for writing protocols for studies, implementing those studies, then analyzing and interpreting the results in clear and concise manner. Communicates results of studies, as well as progress made in the product development process as a team meeting on an ongoing basis.
- Oversee and guide other App Lab Scientists in their daily work, including training and self-improvement. May represent the App Lab manager when necessary.
- Responsible for the general lab maintenance to make sure about safety environment, and equipment calibrations, and logbooks maintenance as required by ISO.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in biology or a related field required with a minimum of eight (8) years of lab experience; Ph.D. in Biology or a related field preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of lab experience.
- Hands-on experience in designing and planning studies and experiments, identifying, and troubleshooting problems with some amount of supervision.
- Good Knowledge of traditional and rapid biological (serology, microbiology, molecular microbiology, biochemistry) techniques is required.
- Good experience in laboratory techniques and method validation is required.
- Experience in food microbiology, food safety or Animal Health would be a plus.
- Strong experience in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results face to face with sales/customers
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required

- Must be able to pay close attention to details.
- Must be able to adapt and flex to a changing environment.
- Must be able to lift/carry 20 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Is required to work Monday through Friday in the New Castle, DE Laboratory.
- May occasionally be required to work early morning, late evenings and/or weekends to assist with experiments.
