Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Substance Abuse Counselor-CACII to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling services to individuals and groups, supporting recovery and promoting mental well-being. You will utilize evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavioral health interventions to guide clients through their recovery journey. Your expertise will help clients develop coping skills, manage cravings, and achieve lasting sobriety while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining accurate medical documentation.
Duties
- Conduct thorough intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and patient assessments to determine individual treatment needs.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating addiction counseling, mental health counseling, and behavioral therapy techniques.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions utilizing approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to clients experiencing acute emotional or behavioral distress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, home & community care, hospital-based services, and social work support.
- Maintain detailed medical records, document patient progress, and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate data collection.
- Engage in research activities related to addiction medicine and behavioral health to continually enhance clinical practices.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor II (CACII) or equivalent credential.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques, PTSD care, medical terminology, and mental health diagnostics.
- Experience working in home & community care environments or hospital settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks effectively while adhering to confidentiality standards such as HIPAA.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct intake interviews, patient assessments, and facilitate both individual and group sessions.
