What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager position at Hydrolec Inc.?
Our customers don’t think of us as a vendor. They think of us as part of their team. This role exists to make that true for every account, and to make sure it stays true.
HYDROLEC BACKGROUND
Hydrolec has been building custom-engineered hydraulic power units since 1985. Four decades in, still growing. Deep roots, aggressive goals. We are not looking for someone to manage a portfolio. We are looking for someone to own it.
Our Core Values are:
- Family First—We treat our customers the way we treat our most valued family members. Genuine investment, honest communication, and the courage to have hard conversations when the situation calls for it. It is not permissiveness. It is not softness. It is the standard of care that keeps great relationships intact for decades.
- Sky’s the limit— The best Account Managers find creative paths forward, not reasons why something didn’t work. There is always a solution. Finding it is the job
- All Hands-on Deck— When a customer has an issue, you own it, coordinate the solution, and close the loop. No task is beneath you. No situation is someone else’s problem.
What Success Looks Like After 12 Months
- Every customer feels like part of the family: they call us first, refer to us as an extension of their business, and relationships that were transactional have become relational
- Retention is not a concern: every account that should be retained is retained; no customer left because they felt underserved or uncommunicated with
- Revenue is growing within the portfolio: year-over-year growth through genuine understanding of what each customer needs to succeed
- Inbound is handled with speed and ownership: nothing falls through the cracks; customers never follow up twice
- Internal teams trust the Account Manager: Engineering, Production, and Operations all consider you a reliable, organized, effective partner
What You Will Work On
- Own a portfolio of at least 30 accounts representing $20M in annual revenue: be the consistent, trusted face of Hydrolec for every one of them
- Manage quotes, follow-ups, coordination, and issue resolution with professionalism and urgency
- Understand each customer’s business well enough to anticipate their needs, not just respond to them
- Be the connective tissue between what the customer needs and what operations can deliver, translating urgency, context, and expectations in both directions
- Identify and drive incremental growth opportunities within existing accounts
- Handle inbound inquiries promptly; execute outbound outreach programs as needed
Who You Are and What We Need
This list describes a specific kind of person. If it makes you feel seen, that’s the signal.
- An owner: you treat every customer issue as your personal responsibility; you never pass a problem without first trying to solve it
- Proactive: the customer is never wondering where things stand; you tell them before they have to ask
- Genuinely curious about your customers’ businesses: not processing orders, but understanding what they need to succeed
- Calm under pressure: when things get hard, you get more focused, not more reactive
- Collaborative internally: effective across Engineering, Production, and Operations without needing formal authority
- 2-4 years in account management, customer success, inside sales, or account coordination in a fast-moving B2B or manufacturing environment
- Able to carry a portfolio of at least 30 accounts and $20M in annual revenue without letting anything slip
- Strong communicator across a wide range of personalities: from the shop floor to the CEO
