A day in this role
On first shift, you arrive to a clean, organized shop and get to work breaking down horizontal and vertical pumps. You verify critical dimensions with micrometers and calipers, capture inspection findings, and prepare components for repair or rebuild. You’ll interpret blueprints and schematics to plan your work, construct foundations for pump assembly and disassembly, and use an overhead crane and forklifts to safely move large components. When reassembly begins, you work within precise tolerances to return rotating equipment to peak performance.

What you will do
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and rebuild large pumps of multiple designs
- Interpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and construct foundations for pump assembly and disassembly
- Operate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools confidently and safely
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to inspect components
- Work to exacting standards of accuracy and control precision during assembly
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle heavy parts and assemblies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 7 years as a pump mechanic or similar role focused on disassembly, inspection, and assembly of large pumps and rotating equipment
- Hands-on proficiency with hand and power tools; overhead crane and forklift operation
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and inspection readings
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Manual dexterity, control precision, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
