Core Responsibilities of our Strategic Procurement Specialist / Commodity Manager:
- Creating and executing procurement strategies for specialized components in alignment with production needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams on product planning to ensure optimal inventory levels to meet production requirements.
- Participate with supplier and internal design teams to optimize design and component costs.
- Source components from approved suppliers while also mining for new sourcing options.
- Develop strong partnerships with suppliers, evaluate performance and assist in root cause analysis for corrective action.
- Assist with the development of continuous improvement opportunities onsite at the supplier.
- Monitor market pricing trends
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply chain management or procurement or purchasing
- Required travel up to 30%
- Strong negotiation skills
- Work with a high sense of urgency
- Technical ability to learn how parts are machined, molded, stamped, pressed, and assembled
- Manufacturing environment experience preferred
- Experience as a buyer of manufacturing components is desired
