Design Engineering InternSUMMARYWe are looking for motivated college students to join our team during school breaks as an Engineering Intern at our site located in Rockford, IL.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIncorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work.Prepare/maintain 3D models, 2D design drawings, schematics/specifications from Design Engineer sketches, plans and written/verbal instructions, for manufacturing/sourcing/assembly purposes.Work closely with Design Engineers to resolve design details/discrepancies on new projects as well as sustaining activities.Prepare bill of material and project specific specifications.Adhere to departmental procedure and standards to achieve the highest quality of throughput.Participate in special assignments as assigned.Assembly of prototypes and test setups.Testing, analyzing and recording test results for Design Engineering.Maintain a safe work environment.Prepare a presentation at the end of the internship describing tasks/achievements and overall experience associated with the internship program.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Proficient with computers, SOLIDWORKS (or AutoCAD) and MS Office software.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors or employees of organization.Established understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as well as ASME drafting standards.Basic understanding of machining/assembly practices.Must have good work ethic, self-confidence, and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.Highly organized, detail-orientated and proactive. Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate at all levels.Hands-on attitude a must.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEnrolled in an engineering related program (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics) with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Hydraulic/fluid power knowledge/experience a plus but not required.
