General Description

A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience fabricating industrial electrical panels or industrial electrical equipment (Electrical schooling a must). Must have electrical trade hand tools and mobile tool box. Must possess technical ability to proficiently read and understand wiring diagrams, shop drawings and schematics, along with vocabulary knowledge used in electrical, and automation fields. Must have proficient knowledge and skills to set-up and operate fabrication equipment (band saws, drill press, pipe threading machine, forklift, overhead crane, and common power tools---training provided). Must be able to fabricate quality electrical panels from, (drawings, diagrams, bill of material, sketches, photographs or customer requirements) in a timely manner. Must pursue product knowledge and advanced training to achieve higher quality, production, job titles and pay grades. Position requires a strong hands-on ability to layout, assemble, wire, and test electrical panels. Must be willing to work out of town short term or fluctuating schedules as needed to meet the customer’s needs. Must work with and assist other employees to meet all manufacturing needs in other departments as needed. Must assist in the preventive maintenance and shop supplies programs as required to maintain efficient productivity. Must help maintain electrical safety habits and conditions.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a strong hands-on ability to layout, assembly, and ship custom electrical panels, and assemblies
  • Read, understand, and mark-up wiring diagrams, drawings, bills of material, quality sheets, and shipping documentation
  • Set-up and operate standard panel fabrication equipment such as, pipe threading machine, band saws, drill presses, magnetic drill press, steam pressure washer, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • Measure, cut, fabricate, assemble, and install wiring
  • Layout, bend, clean, install, and clamp, wiring conduit
  • Mechanical assembly and related mounting of transformers, relays, switches, terminal strips, controllers, back plates, boxes, and other electrical components
  • Fabricate brackets, clamps, supports, and mounting pads, in the installation and wiring of electrical panels to new and existing machines and electrical components
  • Maintain company practices and equipment for electrical safety issues and hazards
  • Continuously improve knowledge of product types, operation, applications, and model codes
  • Continuously improve knowledge of assembly processes, procedures, and practices
  • Maintain and promote a positive relationship and team work with other employees

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Preferred: Minimum continuing education studies within the electrical field

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience fabricating industrial electrical panels or industrial electrical equipment
  • Industrial electrical equipment wiring

Skills/Competencies

  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A keen attention to detail and follow through with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while being a part of a team
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
  • Understanding of basic electrical hand tools
  • Demonstration of Electrical panel assembly and fabrication including component wiring and machine installation

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment:

  • Indoor controlled environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This is a smoke and drug free work place.

Physical Demands:

  • The candidate should reside within 50 mile radius of the facility in Charlotte, NC.
  • Some weekend and over time may be required.
  • Some travel may be required, typically within the Southeast, US.
  • Lifting of 50 lbs and being on your feet for long periods of time will be required.
  • All personnel must create and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
