School Monitor

The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Part-time School Monitor at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive school experience for our students.

Tentative Assignment: FDR High School 10am-1:30pm daily

Responsibilities:

• Supervise students in class/hallways/cafeteria, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
• Enforce school rules and expectations regarding behavior, noise levels, and cleanliness.
• May assist students with opening food containers and other lunch-related needs as necessary.
• May monitor student allergies and ensure students are only consuming their own food.
• Address minor behavioral issues and refer more serious concerns to appropriate school staff (e.g., teachers, administration).
• Facilitate a smooth flow of students in hallways.
• Ensure students dispose of trash properly and maintain a clean eating area.
• Collaborate with cafeteria staff and teachers to support overall student well-being.
• Respond to student inquiries and provide assistance as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with elementary school-aged children is preferred.
• Ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor in a busy environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to enforce rules consistently and fairly.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting.
