Position Summary:

The CAD/CAM Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the CAD/CAM team and the operations of the department.

Your Responsibilities

As the CAD/CAM Manager, you will lead, inspire, and elevate our CAD/CAM team to produce top-tier dental designs. You will focus on high-level leadership and strategic oversight to optimize design workflows, fostering an environment where your team of technical experts can thrive and excel.

  • Team Leadership & Empowerment: Manage hiring, work assignments, and scheduling. Guide and mentor designers and team leads by offering constructive, timely feedback to support their professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance: Guarantee exceptional results by overseeing design accuracy and production quality, ensuring all manufactured components align perfectly with clinician requirements.
  • Innovation & Workflow Efficiency: Refine and enforce the operating procedures and standards that guide the team's output. Work with the rest of the lab management team on R&D initiatives and provide high-level guidance on intricate case designs to ensure departmental advancement.
  • Technology & Operations Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting of CAD/CAM software and machinery, providing support to the team as needed across platforms such as 3Shape, Exocad, Meshmixer, 3D printers, and CNC mills.
  • Goal Tracking & Performance Analysis: Analyze departmental performance metrics to proactively identify operational delays and implement strategic adjustments that drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Supply Management & Resource Optimization: Strategically oversee material procurement by collaborating with the Inventory Manager and team leads to ensure resources are optimized and consistently available for the team.

  • Leadership & Team Development: Exceptional communication, motivational skills, and a supportive leadership style that encourages continuous learning.
  • Operational Strategy & Decision Making: Strong decision-making abilities with a focus on prioritizing deadlines and streamlining departmental workflows.
  • Technical Mastery: 5–7 years of dental laboratory experience as a CAD/CAM technician, with advanced proficiency in 3Shape, Exocad, Meshmixer, and desktop scanners.
  • Management Experience: At least 2 years of experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; Certified Dental Technician (CDT) preferred.

Work Environment

  • Conditions: Indoor laboratory environment working near computer workstations, light manufacturing CNC milling machines, 3D printers, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles.
  • Noise Level: Environment noise level is occasionally loud.
  • Physical Demands: Involves sitting for extended periods, operating computers and equipment, and standard movement (standing, walking, reaching, twisting). Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of management experience
  • At least 5-7 years dental laboratory experience as a CAD/CAM laboratory technician
  • Experience with the following software programs: 3Shape, Exocad, Meshmixer and other desktop scanners and software
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred
  • CDT degree, preferred
