Collections Specialist

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Track and resolve outstanding payment issues and generate weekly aging reports in a timely manner.
• Initiate calls and/or correspondence with customers to inquire about outstanding A/R balances.
• Place collection calls and initiate written correspondence to customers.
• Monitor and maintain assigned accounts - customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off and customer reconciliations.
• Conduct account research and analysis to resolve billing disputes and payment discrepancies.
• Reduce delinquency for assigned accounts.
• Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
• Communicate and follow up effectively with direct manager regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers and company staff.
• Weekly and monthly reporting to direct supervisor.
• Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances.
• Meet defined department goals.
• Retain procedural information with note taking.
• Provide top notch customer service to both internal and external customers.

Perform special assignments/projects as required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must be able to work full time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with overtime as needed.
• A college degree in accounting or similar is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in accounts receivable, customer service, or collections.
• Must be able to work independently based on periodic guidance and direction - with excellent organization, accuracy and follow-up skills.
• Time Management; able to effectively work on multiple tasks at a given time and maintain a high performance on each task.
• Strong communication skills to include verbal and written.
• Able to use Microsoft Office Suite as well as various technology and web-based software.
• Must be able to perform tasks in a timely and safe matter.
