Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources is the strategic Human Resources leader for Hyatt Regency Milwaukee and a member of the hotel's Executive Committee. This position partners closely with the General Manager and department leaders to create an exceptional associate experience while ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and effective labor relations.
This role provides full ownership of all Human Resources functions, including payroll administration, benefits administration, HRIS, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, labor relations, compliance, training, performance management, and associate engagement.
The successful candidate will possess strong hospitality Human Resources experience in a union environment and demonstrate the ability to balance associate advocacy with sound business judgment while supporting a fast-paced, full-service convention hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all Human Resources functions for Hyatt Regency Milwaukee.
- Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee.
- Own payroll administration, payroll audits, payroll accuracy, and payroll compliance.
- Own benefits administration, including enrollments, qualifying life events, employee education, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
- Oversee HRIS administration, employee records, reporting, compliance tracking, and workforce analytics.
- Lead recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and retention initiatives.
- Partner with department leaders on workforce planning, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Administer collective bargaining agreements and provide leadership regarding grievances, investigations, discipline, arbitrations, and labor relations.
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide timely recommendations consistent with Company policy and employment law.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, Hyatt, and Rebel Hotel Company employment policies and regulations.
- Develop and lead associate engagement, recognition, training, and leadership development initiatives.
- Maintain positive working relationships with union leadership while supporting operational objectives.
- Manage workers' compensation, unemployment claims, leave administration, and other employment-related matters.
- Analyze workforce trends and recommend solutions to improve retention, productivity, engagement, and overall associate satisfaction.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and presentations for ownership and corporate leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the hotel.
Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience within the hospitality industry.
- Minimum three (3) years of Human Resources experience in a unionized hotel environment.
- Experience supporting a full-service hotel operation preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning payroll administration and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of HRIS platforms, payroll systems, applicant tracking systems, and workforce management software.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, Wisconsin, and local employment laws.
- Experience conducting investigations and managing employee relations matters.
- Experience interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements.
- Strong organizational, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships with department leaders, associates, and union representatives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Professional in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- Hyatt experience preferred.
- Union Experience
- UKG/Dimensions, Paychex, or comparable HRIS/payroll experience preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Salary Range
$85,000-$100,000 annually
