Position Summary
The Front Desk Associate at Hyatt Place Munster is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while ensuring smooth hotel operations. This role is a multi-functional position that includes front desk operations, and active participation in the kitchen, in-house restaurant, and bar, in accordance with Hyatt brand standards. Associates are expected to be flexible, professional, and guest-focused at all times.
**MUST HAVE OPEN AVAILABILITY AND ABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
This position plays a critical role in guest satisfaction, safety, cleanliness, and revenue generation.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure
- Execute all hotel check-in and check-out procedures following Hyatt standards
- Verify guest identification, payment methods, and reservations
- Accurately assign rooms and explain hotel amenities, policies, and services
- Answer phones, handle guest inquiries, and resolve issues in a timely, courteous manner
- Process payments, post charges, handle cash, and balance shifts accurately
- Maintain complete and accurate guest records in the property management system
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty
- Rotate inventory properly following FIFO (First In, First Out) standards
Guest Satisfaction & Problem Resolution
- Proactively identify guest needs and resolve concerns before escalation
- Handle guest complaints professionally and with empathy
- Follow proper service recovery protocols to ensure positive outcomes
- Communicate guest feedback and service issues to management while understanding that you have the power to resolve.
- Maintain Hyatt’s service culture and brand expectations at all times
Housekeeping Support & Cleanliness
- Report maintenance or cleanliness issues promptly
Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar Operations (Required)
All Front Desk Associates are required to work the kitchen, restaurant, and bar as part of their shift.
Responsibilities may include:
- Preparing and serving food items according to Hyatt Place recipes and food safety standards
- Assisting with evening food service, and bar offerings
- Bartending and serving alcoholic beverages responsibly (where legally permitted)
- Maintaining bar cleanliness, stocking supplies, and rotating inventory
- Following all food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, dishes, prep areas, and dining spaces
- Monitoring guest consumption and ensuring responsible alcohol service
- Upholding a welcoming and engaging dining experience for guests
- Rotate inventory properly following FIFO (First In, First Out) standards
Stocking, Cleaning & Organizing
- Stock and rotate food, beverage, retail, and guest supply items
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of front desk, bar, kitchen, and storage areas
- Ensure proper labeling, dating, and storage of all food items
- Take out trash, sanitize workspaces, and complete daily cleaning checklists
- Rotate inventory properly following FIFO (First In, First Out) standards
Protocols, Safety & Compliance
- Follow Hyatt’s standard operating procedures at all times
- Adhere to cash handling, key control, and security policies
- Maintain guest privacy and confidentiality
- Comply with food safety, alcohol service, and sanitation regulations
- Follow emergency procedures, safety guidelines, and incident reporting protocols
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Hyatt grooming standards
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with all departments (Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales, Management)
- Communicate shift updates clearly to incoming associates
- Support team members during high-volume or peak periods
- Demonstrate flexibility with duties and scheduling
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous hotel, hospitality, customer service, food service, or retail experience preferred
- Ability to work front desk, kitchen, restaurant, and bar during assigned shifts
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and remain calm under pressure
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs
- Must meet legal requirements to serve alcohol (if applicable)
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
