Thompson Dallas is a luxury lifestyle hotel located within The National, a striking 52-story mixed-use landmark in the heart of downtown Dallas. Known for its bold design, elevated hospitality, and dynamic culinary experiences, Thompson Dallas features multiple food and beverage concepts including Little Daisy, a Franco-American bistro; Catbird, a rooftop restaurant and lounge overlooking the Dallas skyline; poolside dining; and in-room dining. In addition to its restaurant outlets, Thompson Dallas hosts a wide range of private events, meetings, and luxury banquets throughout more than 20,000 square feet of event space.
Position Summary
Thompson Dallas is seeking an experienced and dependable AM Cook to join our culinary team. This position works the breakfast and brunch shift from 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM and plays a key role in delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment.
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of breakfast cooking experience, thrives under pressure, demonstrates strong time management skills, and maintains schedule flexibility. Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays. This role may also support banquet and event culinary operations as business demands require.
Cook positions are responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing and assembling dishes that meet the culinary and presentation standards established by the Chef team. This role is also responsible for maintaining mise en place, proper station setup and breakdown, food safety standards, and overall kitchen cleanliness to support a positive and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and execute breakfast and brunch menu items according to culinary standards
Support restaurant outlets, banquets, and private event culinary operations as needed
Maintain understanding of cooking times, temperatures, and plating expectations as directed by the Chef team
Ensure proper kitchen opening and closing procedures are followed
Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workstations throughout the shift
Properly handle, label, store, and rotate food products
Work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
Assist with mise en place and station preparation for service
Maintain professionalism, teamwork, and communication during service
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 2 years of breakfast cooking experience required
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Schedule flexibility required
Must be available to work weekends and holidays
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds safely and independently
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout service
Ability to work in a hot, wet, and loud kitchen environment
Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, and knives
Reliable attendance and punctuality required
Responsible for bringing and maintaining personal cutlery tools/knife roll
Food Handler Certification
