Job Summary
The Flock Service Manager oversees Hy-Line NA parent breeder flocks. The manager works closely with contract growers and layer cooperators to ensure that all biosecurity measures, husbandry, and welfare practices are performed to company standards to achieve optimal performance and production.
Responsibilities
- Help maintain policies, and ensure that all Animal Welfare, SOP, and Safety protocols are being followed.
- In collaboration with company nutritionists, determine proper feed rations to use at various ages and production periods of the flocks, and order feed from the mill weekly.
- Regularly monitor and enter lay flock egg production, fertility, feed consumption and other production parameters into internal database as needed.
- Make regular visits to each breeder location
- Routinely inspect chicken houses to ensure all HLNA SOPs are being followed
- Train/Follow up on bio-security education and risk assessment with producers
- Direct involvement with producers responsible for daily care, gathering, and sorting of eggs and all aspects of animal care
- Assist with vaccinations and other flock service tasks and monitor Flock Service Crew to ensure Animal Welfare practices are being followed.
- Prepare lab samples and NPIP paperwork as needed.
- Regularly monitor health status through flock records and inspections
- Schedule C&D for each breeder house
- Travel is dependent upon the geographic region of growers and producers with the possibility of 50% travel time.
- Responsible for crew oversight and/or setup while at HLNA sites.
- Responsible for monitoring cleanliness of crew equipment, clothing, and warehouse.
- Responsible for tracking crew hours and supplies.
- All other duties and responsibilities, or the delegation of such duties as assigned by the Location Manager, Director of Production, or Technical Services.
Qualifications
- Required to follow HLNA Bio-Security, Animal Care and Welfare Policies and HLNA SOPs
- Comply with OSHA regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to learn and utilize the internal database and internal company programs
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, dusty environment
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone and via email
- Must have good organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and continue education in job related fields
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture-related field
- Valid Driver’s License with ability to tow a trailer
Experience:
- Four years' equivalent professional esperience is preferred.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
