Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily hatchery operations, including incubation, hatching, and chick handling processes
- Support animal handling and restraint procedures with care and precision to ensure safety for animals and staff
- Maintain sanitation standards across all areas of the hatchery to promote healthy environments and prevent disease
- Assist with genetics management by tracking breeding records and supporting selective breeding programs
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary to move equipment, supplies, or animals safely and efficiently
- Support animal husbandry practices such as feeding, cleaning, and general care to promote optimal growth and development
Experience
- Hands-on animal handling experience with poultry or similar livestock is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to hatchery equipment or farm machinery is a plus
- Familiarity with sanitation protocols, and basic math skills for record keeping is beneficial
- Experience with genetics or breeding programs will be considered a strong asset
- Equine experience or background working with large animals can be helpful but is not mandatory
