The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician plays an integral part in the safe and successful production of refractory brick products at HarbisonWalker Internationals Fairfield plant. This role is responsible for insuring production equipment and machinery is functioning properly and performing routine preventative maintenance of equipment and machinery. The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician will train Production Technicians to perform routine adjustments and calibrations to machinery and will follow up with a Production Technician on any diagnostics needed to perform a needed repair. In addition, the Manufacturing Maintenance Technician maintains clean & safe work environment as well as maintains professional working relationships with co-workers.

Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints to analyze and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and HVAC systems, diagnosing, and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays; analyzing and troubleshooting electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing, and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays; Performing mechanical and electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance or repairs on all production and facility equipment (hydraulic presses, conveyors, mixing machines, etc.) adhering to published PM schedules; utilizing original equipment manufacturer and technical literature to coordinate preventive maintenance, systematic maintenance, predictive maintenance and critical spares
- Complying with established facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and other regulations as applicable. Writing and updating Safe Operating Procedures: Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and identifying, reporting and correcting at risk situations and behavior
- Understanding and owning reliability metrics and machine performances (Uptime, MTBF, PM% completion, etc.); applying Lean Manufacturing principles to remove waste and non-value activity; proposing and executing projects to improve performances
- Training Manufacturing Production Technicians to perform routine maintenance and adjustments to machinery to control downtime; monitoring compliance to routine maintenance
Requirements
- Requires high school diploma or G.E.D equivalent
- Strong computer skills and previous experience using on-line work order/preventive maintenance tracking system
- Knowledge of pneumatics and repair skills
- Ability to read drawings, schematics and blueprints
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
- Understanding of basic safety/OSHA standards
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with coworkers, contractors and vendors
- The Manufacturing Production Technician requires a strong track record of maintaining technical competency and five plus (5 ) years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience in a highly-automated, batching environment along with experience working on PLC (Siemens S5 and Allen Bradly Prologic).

- Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time reaching climbing/balancing; 2/3 of time standing, kneeling, crawling speaking/hearing; and less than 1/3 of time sitting,
- Lifting: Requires lifting to 100 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to focus.
- Environment: Requires 2/3 or more of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 working in high, precarious places, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, and/or in extreme heat.
- Noise: Requires exposure to very loud noise.
