Responsibilities
- Participate with customer managers to steer future refractory and operating practice
- Manage interaction of our technical resources with customer technical team.
- Manage site overhead and expenses in accordance with budget.
- Establish and maintain positive customer impression of our products and company.
- Collect operational data for analysis to determine correct refractory qualities.
- Provide customer with refractory expertise.
- Prevent untimely removal of installed refractory materials
- Provide internal and external monthly reports on activities and occurrences at site.
- Provide external monthly reports on refractory consumption and cost.
- Ensure operation and maintenance of on-site machinery.
- Manage inventory to ensure sufficient supply in a timely fashion.
- Manage personnel to ensure timely installation of refractories.
- Support installation of refractories
Requirements
- Requires 3 to 5 years experience in a mini-mill steelmaking environment and/or 3 to 5 years experience in a refractory analysis and troubleshooting.
- Requires B.S. degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or related fields, or equivalent practical field experience
Requires general knowledge of refractories project management, steelmaking or refractory installation experience - A high level of expertise in refractory applications in a mini-mill environment particularly relating to ladles and furnaces.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
- Understanding of the steelmaking process.
Physical Requirements
- Physical Activity: Requires between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time sitting, talking and hearing; and less than 1/3 of the time, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
- Lifting: Requires lifting up to 25 pounds less than 1/3 of the time.
- Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision.
- Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of the time in an office setting, working near moving mechanical parts, and exposed to fumes, airborne particles; and less than 1/3 of the time in high, precarious places, working near toxic or caustic chemical, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, vibration and outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise: Requires working loud conditions.
