What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant - Default Servicing position at HWA?
HWA is looking for a Legal Assistant for our Bankruptcy Department for Default Servicing.
Responsibilities:
- Data entry from multiple sources into Firm’s management system
- Prepare motions, filings, hearing and orders for Motion of Relief
- Prepare motions, filings, hearings and orders for Responses to Notice of Final Cures and meeting strict court, client and internal deadlines
- Notice of Default claims
- Prepare Bankruptcy payoff request
- Handle Contested Bankruptcy matters: examples: proof of claim objections, INREM Motion for Relief, Motion to Impose/Extend Stay, Motion to Confirm No Stay/Annual Stay, Objection to Payment Changes, Motion for Loan Modification, Redact/Seal, Sell, Chapter 11 cases and Adversary
- Prepare data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establish entry priorities
- Process documents and review data for deficiencies and resolve by using standard procedures and requesting information from clients
- Verify data entered is accurate
- Maintain operations and follow Firm policies and procedures; report needed changes
- Maintain client confidence and protect the Firm by maintaining confidentiality
- Responsible for meeting departmental production, quality, efficiency and time-driven goals
Skills/Qualifications:
- Must be “tech savvy”
- Excellent typing skills – Fast and highly accurate
- Must posses a short learning curve related to assimilation of new skills and tasks
- Advanced multi-tasking and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience working in high volume, deadline driven environment.
- Ability to read legal terms and conditions and understand their meaning and how it applies to work processes
- Adaptable to change
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Math oriented a plus
- Well-rounded knowledge of Mortgage and Consumer Finance a plus
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post high school education preferred
Experience:
- 1-2 years office experience
- 1-2 years of experience with mortgage/default servicing preferred
