Department: Operating Room
Work Hours: Casual Status, a minimum of 16 hours per month
The Surgical Technologist Extern’s role provided direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Surgical Technologist, Surgeons, and OR Nurse Manager. Provides direct patient care utilizing knowledge in surgical technique, operative procedures and operating room technology. Complies with standards of practice for Surgical Technologist.
Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program in Surgical Technology and successfully completed the first semester of program. Command of the standards of surgical technique. BLS certification. Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.
