Sheet Metal Fabricator / Tinner

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing production team at HVAC Supply, LLC! In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and inspecting custom and standard HVAC sheet metal systems and air distribution components directly within our facility.

Working in a structured manufacturing environment, you will operate specialized plant machinery, specialized power tools, and hand equipment to manufacture precision ductwork and fittings that meet strict quality and airtightness standards.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Fabrication & Machinery Operation:

• Measure, mark, cut, shape, bend, and form sheet metal according to production drawings, cut lists, and job specifications.
• Operate plant equipment safely, including press brakes, plasma cutters, power shears, rollers, crimpers, and seamers.
• Fabricate custom and standard duct sections, fittings, transitions, offsets, plenums, boots, and collars.

Assembly & Quality Control:

• Assemble fabricated sheet metal components using riveting, screwing, welding, soldering, cleating, and mechanical fastening.
• Apply approved duct sealants, gaskets, and tapes to ensure airtight construction and optimal system performance.
• Inspect finished products for dimensional accuracy, proper fit, airtight seams, and defect-free workmanship prior to staging or shipping.

Drawing Interpretation & Material Management:

• Read and interpret manufacturing shop drawings, blueprints, specifications, and layout patterns.
• Calculate dimensions, angles, offsets, and material requirements to maximize yield and minimize material scrap/waste.
• Monitor material usage and stage raw stock, fasteners, sealants, and components efficiently in your work area.

Facility Safety & Maintenance:

• Strictly follow plant safety procedures, OSHA standards, and machine safety protocols, including proper PPE usage.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas (5S/lean environment) and ensure machinery and tools remain in safe, operable condition.
• Collaborate with the Manufacturing Lead, quality team, and floor personnel to maintain smooth workflow and production schedules.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, HVAC duct manufacturing, or metal fabrication trades.
• Ability to accurately read manufacturing shop drawings, mechanical blueprints, and measurement layouts.
• Proven knowledge of HVAC ductwork designs, gauge specifications, air distribution components, and shop fabrication techniques.
• Proficiency operating sheet metal shop tools and machinery (shears, press brakes, plasma cutters, drills, etc.).
• Strong attention to precision, detail, and quality craftsmanship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 years of HVAC manufacturing or commercial sheet metal production experience.
• Completion of a sheet metal, HVAC, welding, or manufacturing technology program or apprenticeship.
• Hands-on experience fabricating both rectangular and spiral ductwork and complex custom fittings.
• Advanced machinery experience (CNC plasma tables, automated press brakes, welding equipment).
• OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 safety certification.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, bend, reach, kneel, and stand for extended periods on the manufacturing floor.
• Comfortable working in a plant environment with industrial machinery, power equipment, and noise levels typical of a manufacturing facility.
• Safe handling of sheet metal materials and components of varying sizes and weights using proper lifting techniques.
• Willingness to work overtime, early mornings, or evening shifts when production demands require.

Schedule: Full-Time

Work Location: In person / On-site / Job sites

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
