The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Portable Technician. This position will work with the Lead Portable Technician on delivery and pickup schedules of PC equipment. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, work well with others, and represent HVAC RNTL in a positive manner.
Responsibilities
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Environmental Requirements
Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Portable Technician. This position will work with the Lead Portable Technician on delivery and pickup schedules of PC equipment. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, work well with others, and represent HVAC RNTL in a positive manner.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize delivery & pickup schedules with the ability to redirect priorities as needed.
- Maintain job files and provide timely follow up to customers on previous service issues.
- Assist with cleaning of rental fleet including maintenance and repairs.
- Work within asset tracking software properly to record units in/units out by serial number.
- Provide timely and effective communication to sales & billing personnel to meet job scope and customer requirements.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required based on business need.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for emergencies.
- Ability to work within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Represent HVAC RNTL in a positive manner to other trade professionals, contractors and owners outside of the HVAC RNTL business.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training
- 1 - 5 years in PC/HVAC maintenance, mechanical engineering, or other related fields.
- Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to train junior technicians.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
- Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
