We are currently seeking an experienced Director of Payroll to lead enterprise payroll operations within a large, complex organization.

Position Overview
The Director of Payroll will oversee enterprise-wide payroll operations while serving as the functional expert for payroll systems and operations.
This individual will provide strategic leadership for a large payroll organization while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and IT teams to optimize payroll systems, improve operational efficiency, and ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, the Director of Payroll will play a critical role in supporting system enhancements, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining best-in-class payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-wide payroll operations across a large, multi-state organization.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to payroll management and operations teams.
- Serve as the business leader and subject matter expert for payroll systems.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to optimize payroll system functionality.
- Lead post-implementation payroll activities, including system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple payroll cycles.
- Drive payroll process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve payroll reporting, workflows, and system performance.
- Support the transition and integration of additional payroll functions as business needs evolve.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive payroll leadership experience within a large, complex organization.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Payroll is required.
- Experience supporting payroll systems after implementation, including testing, troubleshooting, payroll validation, and system optimization.
- Experience serving as the payroll business lead or subject matter expert while partnering with HRIS and IT teams.
- Multi-state payroll leadership experience.
- Experience leading payroll teams within an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll operations, payroll compliance, and payroll accounting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
