Job Summary:
Management of the nursing unit in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Position reports to the Director of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for nursing residents. This can include but not limited to the following: maintaining current health records, following up on incidents/issues with skilled nursing residents and/or meeting families as needed.
- Monitor falls, infection control, skin issues, unusual occurrences, medicine delivery errors and other incidents.
- Maintenance of quality assurance parameters on unit, including chart and log audits.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges for nursing residents.
- Supervise the nursing staff. Participate in yearly evaluations and monitor staff for corrective action as needed.
- Ensure proper in-servicing of staff.
- Develop and maintain working relationship with professional providers of care to nursing residents.
- Writes and reviews resident’s assessments and plans of care with appropriate staff.
- Plans and schedules staff training programs and in-services for the nursing staff.
- Ensures compliance with all state regulatory requirements including mandatory reporting to State.
- Ensures that all concern and incident reports are completed, filed and that follow-up is conducted appropriately.
- Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Resident’s accounts as it relates to Medicare, third party billing, etc.
- Provide assistance to the Director of Nursing in special assigned projects.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with residents, department heads, co-workers, etc.
- Possesses strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of HutsonWood.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises other nursing personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities per center policies, practices, procedures, and applicable laws.
Qualifications:
- RN or LPN license from an accredited school
- One year of related experience (Preferred)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands: Role may require lifting and moving materials and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
