Intern - Industrialization

We are seeking a highly skilled and Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering, with a focus on plant and cell layout and working with point clouds to create 3D models of equipment and the plant. This role requires a process flow or VSM thinker who can optimize material flow through the plant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Knowledge and practice of HUTCHINSON Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements
• Responsible for all aspects of cell design and plant layouts.
• Participate as part of the program launch team for cell and work optimization.
• Develop and conduct DOEs to optimize the process in terms of quality and throughput.
• Lead continuous improvement activities to improve throughput, quality, and uptime.
• Analyze and optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Develop and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
• Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Conduct time and motion studies to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issues and implement solutions.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Utilize data analysis and statistical methods to drive decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Prepare and present reports on project status, findings, and recommendations.
• Develop and create process models and simulations using Flex Sim, Promodel, or Simul8.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:

Required

• Enrolled in an accredited program for a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering.

Preferred:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in industrial engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Microsoft Office Products, 2d and 3d CAD, FlexSim, ProModel, or Simul8.
