Job Summary:
Provides prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional standards and practices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Prepare, package, label and dispense prescriptions.
- Orders, maintains and restocks drugs for dispensing.
- Maintain and evaluate profile and comprehensive drug data file to evaluate prescriptions for any drug interactions.
- Consults with patients to determine medication compatibility. Instructs on effects of food and alcohol intake. Warning of potential side effects.
- Check all written prescriptions for completeness and/or accuracy. Discuss all questionable or illegible orders with prescribing physicians.
- Oversee the training of pharmacy technicians.
- Fill all prescriptions for waiting customers in most expedient manner feasible.
- Keep current on new developments in pharmaceutical profession.
- Observe all Federal and State pharmacy regulations.
- Administers immunization injections as needed
- Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a well-organized and clean work area.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude, appearance, and relationship with patients and staff.
- Make certain pharmacy is properly and sufficiently staffed during Clinic hours.
- Observes all clinic guidelines and policies.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
- Six months to two years of pharmacy experience.
Education:
- BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy is required.
- Current license as a pharmacist or the ability to attain licensure in the State of Kansas required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolong periods of standing or walking.
- Frequently lifting or carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Requires hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements.
