Facilities & Event Management Assistant/Assistant Baseball Coach

Description

The Facilities and Event Management Assistant/Assistant Coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and Event Management to organize, plan and cover all athletic events on campus. In addition, they will assist the Head Baseball coach in instructing students in areas of the sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, and leadership, film, scouting, recruiting, academic and conduct monitoring, and strength and conditioning.

Example of Duties

FACILITIES AND EVENT MANAGEMENT

• Set up and/or take down of athletic facilities in preparation for events, practices and/or competition for both Husson programs and outside rentals
• Maintenance and care of artificial surfaces and surrounding facilities in the Winkin complex and at Boucher Field.
• Maintenance and care of the wooden floor in the Newman Gymnasium.
• Assist with care of O’Keefe Field as needed.
• Installation and care of corporate partner signage in all four athletic facilities.
• The Facilities Assistant will also perform event management responsibilities as scheduled and assigned.
• Additional maintenance duties for University as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
  • Assist in snow removal from roads and walkways using snow plows, snow blowers and other equipment.
  • Must be able to participate in on-call duty rotation.

• Sports specific game management responsibilities as assigned.

• Coordinator of locker room assignments for visiting football teams and officials:

• Communicate with Husson coach at least 3 days prior to competition.
• Signage on locker room doors at least 3 days prior to competition.

• Communicate with visiting coaches via e-mail no later than the day prior to the competition (not including football).

• Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This person will be responsible for supervising work study students during games and events.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

• Coaching responsibilities as assigned by the head coach, to include; instructing students on sport fundamentals, setting goals, setting clear expectations, and providing feedback to students
• Assist in the organization, preparation, and coaching of the Husson Baseball Team to include:
  • attendance at all practices, scrimmages, and games
  • recruiting and scouting off-campus
• Assist in monitoring the conduct of the student-athletes with NCAA, NAC, department and team expectations.
• Assist in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure they are meeting academic course requirements and providing guidance and instruction to students to ensure success
• Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting plan to include recruiting qualified collegiate student-athletes.
• Responsibility to meet on a daily basis with the head coach concerning all areas of instruction, training, scrimmages, games, and recruiting activities
• Directly responsible to the head coach for all related assignments concerning the baseball program
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent experience required.

Experience: Proven experience in playing or coaching at the high school or intercollegiate level. Coaching licenses, certifications, and badges preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Working knowledge of coaching pitchers, catchers, and field players.
• The ability to work with Front Rush recruiting software, and the ability to create film sessions with both individual members of the team and the full team.
• The successful candidate must possess the skills to function well in a variety of roles that interact positively with the administration, faculty, coaching staff, student-athletes and other on, and off, campus constituents.
• The successful candidate will show the ability to work successfully in a highly competitive, NCAA Division III, collegiate environment.
• The normal work environment includes outdoor weather conditions on a daily basis with regard to both practices and games. Work on nights, weekends, and overnight travel is expected.
