Stewart Iron Works is looking for a Traveling Metal Installer who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and representing quality work wherever the job takes you. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Install metal railings and fences according to project specifications and blueprints
- Measure and mark installation areas to ensure accurate placement and alignment
- Cut, shape, and weld metal components using appropriate tools and techniques
- Assemble and secure metal structures using bolts, fasteners, and welding equipment
- Inspect completed installations to ensure stability, safety, and quality standards
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing railings and fence systems as needed
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to understand design and installation requirements
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices or junior installers when applicable
- Document project progress and communicate issues or delays to supervisors
- Travel as required to support projects across multiple locations
Qualifications
- Willing to travel
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a metal railing and fence installer or similar role
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of metal types and properties
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Welding and cutting techniques
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials
- Attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in construction settings
