Landscape Construction Laborer
Hurst Outdoor Living is a full service landscape design-build company located in the northwest suburbs of Des Moines, Iowa. Established in 2022, we are rapidly growing and looking to expand our installation team. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Landscape Construction Laborer.
Description of Position: The Landscape Construction Laborer is responsible for assisting with the installation of residential and commercial installation projects. Qualified candidates will be inspired to create unique outdoor living spaces for our clients, be self-motivated, value being a part of a team, and desire to be a part of molding the growth and future of Hurst Outdoor Living.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist Landscape Construction Crew Leader with construction of residential and commercial projects that include, but are not limited to:
- Building stone walls - natural stone, boulders, pre-cast
- Building patios, walkways and staircases
- Fire pit, fireplace and outdoor living element installation
- Water feature construction
- Grading and site work as required
- Installing natural stone and precast edging
- Creation of planting beds and plantings
- Other tasks as required by owner
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must possess strong leadership skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with clients, crew members, and owner in order to meet project deadlines.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and temperatures.
- Must be able to lift more than 80 pounds and endure repetitive bending and twisting motions.
- Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license and have a good driving record in order to operate company vehicles.
- Desire to attend local and national conferences, trade shows/trainings and obtain additional certifications as needed.
- Previous experience with landscape construction projects and operating equipment are beneficial, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
- Work hours are typically Monday-Friday 7:30-5p. Occasionally Saturdays may be required, but not regularly throughout the year
- Typically limited hours during January and February
- Uniforms are provided with a boot allowance
