About the Role

As a Small Business Payroll Accountant, you will manage payroll processing for a portfolio of small business clients and serve as one of their primary points of contact. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, organization, and strong communication skills.

You will help business owners feel confident that their payroll is handled correctly, on time, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

●       Process payroll for multiple small business clients accurately and on time.

●       Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

●       Prepare and file payroll tax returns.

●       Respond to client questions and provide ongoing payroll support.

●       Resolve payroll discrepancies, notices, and issues as they arise.

●       Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation.

●       Assist with onboarding new payroll clients and setting up payroll systems.

●       Coordinate with internal team members to ensure smooth workflow and excellent client service.

●       Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and contribute to firm efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

The right candidate will bring:

●       1–3 years of payroll or accounting experience preferred.

●       Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

●       Excellent organizational and time management skills.

●       Ability to manage multiple payroll clients and meet recurring deadlines.

●       Strong communication skills with both clients and team members.

●       Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new systems.

●       Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

●       A genuine passion for small businesses and the people who own them.
