Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated aquarist to take care of/manage an extensive private collection of saltwater life. Aquarist would be responsible for procuring, feeding, medicating, & managing all livestock. Both fish & coral as well as minor fresh water collection.
Duties
- Manage inventory of medicine, dry goods, food, etc.
- Diagnose and treat livestock for potential diseases & parasites. Quarantine as needed.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and ensure their well-being during research activities
- Perform water changes & manage nutrients.
- Support veterinary procedures by monitoring animal health, administering medications, and maintaining detailed medical records
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and handling techniques
- Experience with diagonsing diseases & parasites.
- Familiarity with veterinary practices including medication administration and animal restraint
- Understanding of environmental law related to wildlife conservation and habitat protection
- Ability to perform water testing & understanding how to manage nutrient levels
- Knowledge of pet care and general animal husbandry practices for diverse species
