Salary Range
$55,052.92 - $79,973.26 depending on experience.

Position Summary
The GIS Analyst II works under the supervision of the GIS Coordinator. The primary focus of this position is to work closely with the water, power, and streets departments to collect, edit, and maintain utility data for Hurricane City. In addition, this position is responsible for making utility data available to employees of the City and public through maps, web apps, and data exports. Opportunities to assist on other projects will also be available.
Essential Functions:
- Collect utility data in the field using GPS equipment;
- Edit and maintain utility datasets in an enterprise geodatabase;
- Create and maintain standard web apps and feature services in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise;
- Attend various city and department meetings related to future and ongoing projects;
- Scan and georeference construction drawings and CAD data to track utility installs and updates;
- Fulfill requests for utility data from internal and public users; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, cartography, computer science, forestry, engineering, or a related field. A GIS certification is a plus.
- Three (3) years of full-time practical working experience with GIS systems.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of ESRI GIS software: ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Familiarity with Trimble GPS units is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Capacity for consistent attention to detail and organization;
- Ability to identify, think critically, and solve problems with a systematic and analytical approach;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others in a team environment;
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Understand relational database design concepts and schema;
- Willingness to train and give GIS assistance to fellow coworkers as needed.
Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions:
Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls, as well as being outdoors, typically on construction sites in a variety of weather. Tasks require a variety of physical activities, sitting or standing for extended periods while assisting customers and while operating assigned office and field equipment. Walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Talking, hearing, and seeing is essential in the performance of daily tasks. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and critical thinking. Considerable exposure to stress as a result of human behavior, including dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous individuals is required as part of the job requirements.

Our close-knit GIS team is composed of two people. Our goal is to maintain impeccable data and improve decision-making for our colleagues, design and construction professionals, and other residents of Hurricane City. We work closely with other City departments to help answer questions about our community and plan for the continued development of this rapidly growing City.
Condition of Employment
Employee may be required to work extended or irregular hours such as nights, weekends and holidays. Hurricane City employment can require employees to occasionally work outside of their normal job duties to assist with city sponsored events and/or projects. The employee is expected to forgo normal work duties to assist with the completion of these events and/or projects. In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
