What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remote Full-Time NEW YORK Consumer Debt Defense Attorney position at Huron Law Group PLLC?
Huron Law Group is an established and rapidly growing national debt defense law firm focused on providing cost-effective legal representation to consumers. Our firm is currently seeking a remote, full-time attorney, licensed in the state of New York, to provide representation and limited-scope legal assistance to consumer clients involved in debt collection lawsuits.
Responsibilities will include representing and defending clients in collection cases initiated by original creditors or debt buyers and, for clients who engage the firm in a narrower capacity, providing limited-scope legal assistance, including reviewing and editing pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm’s paralegals. This position will rarely require complex litigation and/or attendance at final hearings, as clients are enrolled in a debt resolution program, and typically desire to settle through voluntary payment arrangements with the creditors. Where in-person attendance at a hearing becomes necessary, local hearing attorneys may be utilized.
Annual salary is $100,000.00, with additional compensation and benefits including 10 days of paid time off with increases over time, 9 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays, yearly reviews with raises up to 5%, discretionary bonuses, health, vision, dental, and short-term disability insurance, 401k with employer matching, and payment of bar membership and continuing legal education. This position is fully remote, enabling the attorney to telecommute from any dedicated work location within the United States.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and in good standing with the New York Bar
- At least 5 years of prior civil litigation experience
- Experience in high-volume consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred
