What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drug Distribution Purchasing Agent position at Huntsville Hospital System?
Overview
Manages the purchasing operations of the Pharmacy Department. Maintains records and databases containing information regarding licenses, warranties, and contractual agreements. Orders medications from wholesaler and/or manufacturers to maintain adequate inventory. Coordinates ordering, receiving, and inventory control initiatives. Maintains required records of controlled drug inventory if applicable. Leads and directs the work of others involved with receiving and purchasing and distribution.
Qualifications
Education required: High school diploma or GED
Education preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
License, certification and/or registration: PTCB and/or ExCPT certification preferred, but not required
Experience: Three years of experience in materials management or pharmacy, to include purchasing, inventory management, issuing, receiving, and storage of materials. Previous experience in pharmacy purchasing preferred. Collaborative project management experience preferred. Will consider relevant experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.

- Must understand the various drug distribution models within our organization.
- Must demonstrate skills in math and successful time management. Must be able to establish priorities, delegate when required and follow up in problem solving.
- Must be able to organize workload, accomplish goals and objectives, and meet deadlines.
