REPORTS TO: Huntington Theatre Manager
STATEMENT OF JOB:
The Huntington Theatre House Manager coordinates and supervises all front-of-house operations for the Huntington Theatre. They are responsible for the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising of all front-of-house and volunteer staff. The Huntington Theatre House Manager ensures the safety of all patrons entering the facility. This position is a key member of the Huntington Operations Team overseeing the building operations during performance times. Working together with this team, the Huntington Theatre House Manager ensures that the front-of-house team creates a welcoming and hospitable environment for all staff and crew; guest artists; and theatre guests.
JOB DUTIES:
• House manages all performances at the Huntington Theatre including rentals and events.
• Responds to emergency or time-sensitive situations that may arise in a calm and timely fashion.
• Schedules, trains, and oversees part-time usher staff and volunteers to serve the needs of each performance/event.
• Creates a safe and professional working environment for all guests, staff, and artists.
• Opens and closes the facility as assigned, complete with a daily safety walkthrough.
• Maintain the appearance of the lobby and bar spaces, including posting physical and digital collateral
• Communicates with the Huntington Theatre Management Associate to maintain petty cash for daily concessions needs.
• Meets with Stage Management for each performance to document relevant performance information and standardize communication expectations.
• Communicates performance needs to other trained house managers and interim house managers to ensure cohesion among the house management staff.
• Coordinates with Huntington Theatre Operations staff to ensure the maintenance of the physical theatre building.
• Collaborates with the Calderwood Pavilion House Manager to standardize procedures between the two building spaces.
• Works with Payroll department to ensure accurate and timely compensation of staff.
• Coordinates with Huntington Theatre Operations Supervisor and Event Outreach and Operations Supervisor on all pre- and post-show receptions, as well as internal and external events, scheduled in the lobby spaces and Maso Studio.
• Attends and participates in weekly Venue Management and HT Management meetings.
• Coordinates with the Calderwood Pavilion House Manager to schedule trainings, interviews, and develop the weekly schedule.
• Other duties as assigned by the Huntington Theatre Manager.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.A. or equivalent plus 1-3 years’ experience in House Management with a demonstrated strength in customer service.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and a working knowledge of Word, Excel and TEAMS.
• Familiarity with ADA and with the Actors Equity Association rules and policies pertaining to front-of-house operations preferred.
• Possess the ability to attend to numerous details at one time, establish priorities, respond positively and effectively under stressful situations, and propose timely solutions to problems.
• First Aid and/or CPR training is necessary and will be provided if needed.
• TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) training is necessary for this position and will be provided if not currently certified.
• Commonwealth of Massachusetts Crowd Manager training is necessary for this position and will be provided if not currently certified.
Salary : $54,000 - $60,000
