Expectations:
Focusing on patient and physician communication, the communications specialist will promote and support Huntington Health’s medical staff and patient-facing initiatives. This role is crucial in crafting clear, empathetic, and accurate messaging tailored to patient education and physician collaboration across various platforms. The specialist will identify and develop compelling content that simplifies complex medical information for patients while supporting physicians in their communication efforts with patients and colleagues. This includes writing patient-friendly materials, assisting with physician-facing communications, and ensuring all content reflects Huntington Health’s commitment to patient-centered care. Demonstrating exceptional writing and interpersonal skills, this individual will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure effective communication across all patient and physician-related initiatives, managing multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic health care environment. Collaborates and works cross-functionally with internal collaborators in communications and with external partners throughout Huntington Health. Handles basic design and implementation of communication materials through specialized templates. Works collaboratively with other members of the organizational communications team to manage priorities, workflows and shared responsibilities and assignments.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field required.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in writing, editing, developing and delivering in-depth content or related communications experience. Seven (7) years of experience preferred.
Proven experience in an academic medical center, hospital or healthcare, broadcast news, nonprofit and/or foundation experience preferred.
SKILLS:
Demonstrates exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.

Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
