Position Title:
Director of Human Resources

Terms of Employment: 12 Month Position

Evaluated By: Chief Financial Officer


Job Summary

Responsible for all day-to-day HR functions of the corporation, assuring that the corporation is compliant with all laws and regulations and assures that all employee benefits and teacher contracts are accurate


Employment Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with minimum of five years successful HR experience
  • Technology skills: Must be fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, LOW, Frontline Central, Attendance on Demand (AOD) and be willing to learn new

software as necessary

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to resolve problems with internal and external customers


Classified Employee Confidentiality Statement

Essential Job Duties

  • Responsible for tracking and coordinating all leaves of absence, worker’s compensation,FMLA, unpaid leave, and any other applicable leave of absence
  • Coordinates employee benefits, including health insurance, life insurance and long-termdisability insurance
  • Maintains employee personnel files, assuring all documents are accurate and complete
  • Assures that employees are onboarded in a timely fashion, assures that appropriate benefitforms are distributed, and communicates with respective

insurance companies and other HCCS departments notifying of the new employee and any technology needs

  • Responsible for ending terminated staff from appropriate benefit plans
  • Coordinates teacher orientation
  • Maintains position openings – company bulletin boards, email announcements, online advertising including posting at Region 8, Nimble, really, etc.,

  • Must remain up-to-date and certified on the latest trends, regulations and legal requirements of human resources
  • Maintains all job descriptions, assuring accuracy and that the descriptions are current
  • Responsible for tracking and entering information for Classified and Certified compensation models, and coordinates all documents associated with pay

increases for staff

  • Prints and creates all teacher contracts, administrator contracts, ECA contracts, ensuring accuracy
  • Schedule interviews and prepare interview questions for positions as requested as well as participate on the interview committee as requested
  • Conduct reference checks on new employees as requested
  • Responsible for completing background checks on new employees
  • Assist staff with any employment benefit questions, trouble shoot problems, etc.
  • Meet with employees who are resigning/retiring from the school corporation and conduct an exit interview with employees
  • Create Classified employee evaluation forms
  • Monitor and track teacher licensure to assure that all Certified staff have current and applicable licenses for their areas of teaching
  • Upload HR items for School Board approval into BoardDocs
  • Report insurance information to IRS on an annual basis (1095-C upload) as well as prepare 1095-C annually to distribute to eligible staff
  • Works with the Department of Workforce Development on any unemployment claims and monthly billing statements
  • Maintains the PlanSource benefit enrollment system assuring that information is entered correctly, changes are updated in a timely fashion, and benefit

elections are transmitted to providers in a timely fashion

  • Responsible for annual open enrollment for insurance benefits including maintaining/updating PlanSource system as well as updating any changes in

LOW. Responsible for the uploading of benefits into LOW in a timely fashion at the conclusion of open enrollment period

  • Participates in employee discipline and discharge meetings
  • Advises Administrators on HR concerns such as discipline, leave of absence, and any other HR related topics
  • Attends quarterly Insurance Trust Board meetings (non-voting member)
  • Responsible for the worker’s compensation program for the corporation. Processes accident reports and reports injuries to the worker’s compensation

carrier for prompt processing. Maintains and assures compliance with all OSHA regulations and logs

  • Works with the Corporation Treasurer and Secretary of the Insurance Trust Board on a monthly basis to assure accurate billing for medical, dental and

vision insurances

  • Maintains spreadsheet that tracks all monthly insurance premium payments from retirees and COBRA participants. Monitors late payments of insurance

premiums and also works with VEBA to assure accurate payment of monthly insurance premiums

  • Responsible for assuring the corporation’s compliance with all Health Care Reform laws and regulations. Responsible for all reporting deadlines to

federal government regarding compliance with Health Care Reform

  • Responsible for completing all required reporting for State reports, OSHA 300 Log, Gateway reports, ISTA report requests, HCTA report requests and any

other reports as requested

  • Responsible for annual employee recognition program
  • Communicates and Maintains records for Certified Employee Sick Bank and Classified Employee Sick Bank
  • Maintain student teacher/host teacher database, oversees background checks and SafeSchools training
  • Responsible to handle all unemployment claims from the Department of Workforce Development
  • Works with HR/Payroll Assistant to coordinate SafeSchools training for all staff
  • Reviews and revises on an annual basis Classified Employee Handbook, Employee Guide, Substitute Teacher Handbook, and Agreement for

Administrators

  • Meets all aspects of the Classified Employee Handbook and Agreement for Administrators
