General Responsibilities:
The speech and language specialist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy to students requiring related service for specific language impairment. The speech and language specialist is responsible for providing literacy support to classroom teachers in the form of consultation and direct facilitation of activities.
Major Duties:
Evaluate and identify students with communicative disabilities.
Develop measurable goals and objectives specific to each child’s unique needs in accordance with state standards.
Provide remediation strategies commensurate with each student’s IEP.
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, district and WOCCSE staff.
Communicate regularly with parents, staff and other service providers.
Provide direct interventions to students using a variety of service delivery options.
Attend in-service and staff training activities relative to communication disorders and literacy interventions.
