HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A valid administrative credential authorizing service at the secondary level.
Desirable: A masters degree, three years of supervisory and administrative experience at the secondary level.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as chief administrator in a large, comprehensive, four-year high school. In addition, is responsible for maintaining the school physical plant, the school budget, the certificated and classified staff, the student activity program, as well as maintaining active relationships with the community and close articulation with other educational levels.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Provides leadership in fostering a self-directed management climate for the entire school community. E
2. Determines financial needs of the school and administers the school budget. E
3. Supervises the implementation of curriculum content within guidelines established by the Board of Trustees and district administrators. E
4. Coordinates the development of curriculum, master schedule, and instructional methodology through the appropriate assistant principal. E
5. Provides leadership within the school's administration team to develop professional growth and in-service training of staff. E
6. Coordinates pupil personnel, guidance, and student evaluation programs through the appropriate assistant principal. E
7. Coordinates supervision of plant operation, community utilization, maintenance activities, health and food services through the appropriate assistant principal. E
8. Oversees the development and coordination of the student activities program of the school. E
9. Coordinates the boys and girls athletic programs through the appropriate assistant principal and athletic directors. E
10. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of the school's program of community relations. E
11. Supervises and provides direction in the school's program of articulation with elementary feeder schools. E
12. Articulates with district administrative personnel and the superintendent; prepares reports and informs the district administration and superintendent regarding the conditions of the school. E
13. Supervises evaluation of the school staff; recommends employment, assignment, and dismissal of staff, certificated and classified. E
14. Coordinates the selection of instructional materials and equipment through the various members of the administrative team. E
15. Supervises the assignment of student teachers, administrative field work candidates, teacher aides, instructional aides, and Volunteers-In-Public Schools. E
16. Works closely with the appropriate staff members to develop a positive program for students with school and social adjustment problems. E
17. Effectively communicates with staff, students, and parents in writing and orally. E
18. Delegates authority as provided by district policy. E
19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
