HunterLab is looking for a Material Handler II to join our Manufacturing and Materials Management team in Reston, Virginia.

About the Role

As a Material Handler II, you will play an important role in keeping our manufacturing operation running smoothly. Working independently within the Materials Management area, you will be responsible for a variety of stockroom and inventory activities, including receiving, storing, picking, moving, and delivering materials and products.

You will help ensure that materials are accurately received and inventoried, customer orders are fulfilled correctly, production teams have the materials they need, and finished products are properly staged for shipment.

What You'll Do

  • Receive, unload, inspect, and organize incoming inventory and parts.
  • Verify incoming deliveries against company purchase orders.
  • Pick materials and kits based on customer orders.
  • Pull the correct products, stage orders, and prepare kits for shipment.
  • Move materials and supplies between the stockroom and work areas using mobile carts.
  • Count and weigh parts to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages or discrepancies.
  • Work closely with Inventory Control and other departments to support on-time delivery.
  • Maintain inventory using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) practices.
  • Accurately document inventory transactions and follow company procedures.
  • Identify and report quality issues and follow HunterLab's quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, transaction, and process issues and participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Cross-train with other Materials Management functions to provide backup during peak periods and employee absences.
  • Participate in the company's annual physical inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of related experience in materials handling, inventory management, warehousing, or a similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple orders, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Excel.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and share knowledge with others.

Preferred:

  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system.
  • Previous stockroom, warehouse, manufacturing, or inventory experience.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on position in a manufacturing and stockroom environment. The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Walk, bend, lift, reach, and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and work with small parts.
  • Use basic hand tools such as cutters, crowbars, and claw hammers.
  • Demonstrate good manual dexterity.
  • Distinguish colors and demonstrate close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Work in a controlled environment with occasional exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
