Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, proper diet and nutrition, and the importance of regular dental visits to promote long-term oral health.
- Capture and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, treatments, and medical records accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols essential for delivering safe patient care.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix for documentation review and record management.
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles and pediatric patient management.
- Ability to perform chairside prophylaxis and fluoride treatments efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
- Familiarity with dental office procedures, infection prevention practices, and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of hygiene.
- Excellent communication and chairside skills, deliver care in a kind and compassionate manner, and educate patients effectively.
