Student Support Specialist
(School Social Worker, School Psychologist or Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant)
The Hunterdon County Vocational School District seeks a skilled, compassionate Student Support Specialist to provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support to students enrolled in our shared-time vocational programs. This role may be filled by a Social Worker, School Psychologist or LDT-C who will collaborate with sending districts, families, staff and community agencies to promote student success in our vocational programs.
Key responsibilities:
Support students with the transition between their home school, HCVSD and postsecondary opportunities.
Serve as a liaison with families, school staff and community-based resources to reduce barriers to student success.
Provide consultation, counseling and intervention services to address students’ academic, social-emotional and behavioral needs.
Work with the teaching staff to support student success in their career and technical education program.
Collaborate with sending districts to ensure effective communication, case management and continuity of student support services.
Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of IEP and 504 plans.
Work with child study team members in the sending districts to provide input and feedback for student progress.
Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution and restorative support when needed.
Facilitate referrals to outside agencies for mental health, substance abuse and other needed services.
Assist in coordinating home instruction.
Document services and maintain compliance with district, state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
Must hold a School Social Worker Certificate, School Psychologist Certificate or a New Jersey LDT-C Certificate.
Experience working with adolescents in educational or youth-serving settings preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families and sending districts.
Knowledge of vocational/technical education and the unique needs of shared-time students a plus.
Salary Range: $68,930 - $81,000 (Commensurate with experience)
