Hunterdon Central is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and dynamic counselor who thrives working with a team. We are searching for a School Counselor to join a supportive and inclusive environment. The School Counselor will be responsible for providing academic, career, and personal/social counseling services to students, as well as collaborating with teachers, administrators and families to promote success for all students. This tenure track position begins with the 2026-2027 school year.

- Appropriate NJDOE School Counselor Certification required
- High School experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in academic, career, and personal/social development
- Create and implement innovative counseling programs and intervention that address the needs of diverse student populations
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement initiatives that promote student achievement and well-being
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and stay current with best practicies and trends in the field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and support a student-centered school culture
- Knowledge of current research, trends and best practices in the field of School Counseling
- Familiarity with student information systems and technology tools for data analysis and communication
- Knowledge of post-secondary options including, college/university admissions processes, scholarship programs and other educational opportunities
- Knowledge of current developments in business and industry regarding career opportunities and employment
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Rate:
$61,695 - $107,175
