A Senior Director, Digital serves as a senior leader in developing and managing social and
digital marketing campaigns and programs. This role can function as the most senior, dayto-
day Digital member on a given account, with minimal oversight. This role provides
strategic insight and proactive high-level counsel directly to clients and colleagues,
ensuring quality control across all digital channels and content strategies. They oversee
channel and content planning, creative ideation, analytics and insights, with an additional
acumen and ability to oversee and execute programs across paid social, executive comms
and social listening.
The Senior Director provides day-to-day team leadership, including supervising team
members, potentially at the Director level and below. This position is also expected to drive
agency growth through a greater focus on new business opportunities, participating in
RFPs and more actively participating in pitches.
Qualifications Required:
• B.A. in Marketing, Public Relations or the like
• A minimum of 7 to 9 years of experience managing social channels for brands and
developing content plan and strategy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Expertise in social media management tools (e.g. Sprout Social, Sprinklr) and social
listening/analytics platforms (e.g. Quid, BrandWatch, Meltwater)
• Experience managing clients, providing strategic recommendations, project
updates, and constructively evaluating briefs and implementing feedback
• Deep experience developing creative channel and content strategies for both
owned channels and paid media campaigns
• Experience managing junior team members
• Executive social comms experience
• Working knowledge of KOL/influencer marketing, employee advocacy planning
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
• Oversee all planning and execution of client programs to meet business objectives
and identify opportunities to grow existing business
• Think creatively and strategically across account teams, practice areas and regions
• Consistently provide clients with proactive ideas that maximize social media results
and/or anticipate issues
• Serve as a social media expert within the agency, with the ability to speak with
authority on paid social, executive eminence, and social listening for both internal
and client-facing calls
- Ability to execute across these specialty areas as well (e.g. building out social
listening queries, building or QAing a paid social campaign, advising on an
executive social strategy)
- Ability to identify upsell opportunities for clients and collaborate with senior leads
(VP ) on relevant opportunities
o Recognize and seek opportunities to grow clients’ social/digital
programs/business, including PR clients who have yet to scope the digital
team for a standalone project
• Serve as client lead and build/maintain strong relationships with key client
personnel, incorporating 1:1s with client leads as relevant
• Drive annual digital planning, leading on both creative and strategic elements and
illustrating keen knowledge of user behavior and where to intercept online
• Lead client calls, meetings and presentations; participate in client brainstorms;
attend client events
• Develop and drive brand positioning and narrative across all platforms
• Manage account teams as well as junior staff on a one-on-one basis, facilitating
close touchpoints, flagging potential interpersonal or account issues, and
conducting reviews and recommending direct reports for promotions where
appropriate
• Oversee day-to-day social content creation and management, liaising with our
design and studio teams as needed
• Seek opportunities to expand client digital ecosystems and test new techniques and
technologies, as well as format types, trending sounds and more.
• Deliver high qualify results on-time and on-budget
• Leverage research, past data and insights to inform strategies and content plans
• Demonstrate competency around and the ability to teach others agency operations
and office procedures (e.g. job numbers, billability and expense reports) and agency
resources (e.g. brand guidelines, tools and subscriptions and best practices, etc.
• Establish proactive client communication practices and team structure to be able to
respond to requests for information from clients in a timely manner
• Set KPIs, establish Benchmarks, and provide content performance updates,
laddering back to strategic objectives
• Demonstrate an interest in the long-range health of the agency
• Delegate appropriate responsibilities to social and digital media team members for
execution provide QC and ongoing monitoring to ensure proper execution
• Ability to put together a client budget/scope for programming and manage team
hours to track to budget, escalating any issues or challenges to business unit lead
• Ability to appropriately estimate budget and OOP needs for organic or paid
programming for clients
• Provide analysis to clients of program results
• Collaboratively create strategic and creative social/digital media campaigns for
multiple clients
In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, the Company believes the target range of base compensation for this role is $110K - 120K. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
