What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager Strategic Sourcing position at Hunter Shore Group?
We’ve recently been retained by a complex, consumer-facing organization as it strengthens its strategic sourcing function during a period of transformation.
The procurement team oversees $2.5B in annual spend and is raising the bar as the business focuses on efficiency, profitability, and long-term value creation. As part of this evolution, the organization is hiring a Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing to help lead critical categories across Direct and Indirect spend. 2 separate positions, leading each function.
This is a high-visibility, player/coach role for someone who enjoys building, influencing, and creating structure where it doesn’t yet fully exist.
The Opportunity:
This role will align to either Direct or Indirect categories depending on background and strengths:
- Direct categories may include technically complex, operationally critical areas such as maintenance services, components, repair programs, safety-related equipment, and other customer-impacting spend.
- Indirect categories may include corporate and professional services, technology, marketing, real estate, and other enterprise-wide spend areas undergoing transformation.
In both cases, you’ll own category strategy, partner closely with senior stakeholders, and balance long-term strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Define and execute category strategies aligned with business and financial priorities
- Lead and develop high-potential analysts (player/coach leadership is essential)
- Partner with senior leaders across finance, operations, engineering, and corporate functions
- Drive sourcing initiatives, negotiations, and supplier performance
- Bring structure, critical thinking, and forward-looking perspective to a transforming organization
- Help shape the future-state procurement model for 2026 and beyond
What We’re Looking For
- 6–10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement
- Experience leading Direct and/or Indirect categories in a complex organization
- Strong stakeholder presence and executive-level communication skills
- Comfortable operating in environments that are evolving and scrappy
- Self-directed, motivated, and confident rolling up your sleeves
- Track record of developing talent while delivering results
Why This Role Stands Out
- Significant autonomy and ownership
- Daily exposure to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Opportunity to build, not just maintain
- Values-driven, highly accessible leadership culture
- Real impact on cost, capability, and organizational direction
Please note this role is hybrid (3 days a week in office). Competitive comp package including base, bonus, and RSU plan.
Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
