Schedule: 8 hours weekly


Summary: The Pharmacy Technician provides technical assistance to the pharmacist and provides exceptional customer service while providing prescriptions to Hunter Health Clinic’s (HHC) patients. The Pharmacy Technician supports the Director of Pharmacy while providing quality patient support to all HHC patients while maintaining compliance with all federal laws (including 340B regulations), grants, HRSA, HIPAA, Kansas Board of Pharmacy, and HHC policies and procedures.



Essential Functions:

  • Performs point-of-sale functions, including managing payment operations.
  • Provides prompt and exceptional customer service to process prescription orders.
  • Utilizes and updates data in pharmacy computer system to maintain files and records.
  • Completes all documentation on patients in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by receiving and stocking while also creating pharmacy orders and returns from specified sources.
  • Processes requests accurately for third party payors and clinic programs for eligible patients and resolves third party payor rejections.
  • Collaborates with medical and nursing staff to ensure timely resolution of refill requests and prescription issues.
  • Addresses patient complaints in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Supports the Pharmacy Coordinator and the Director of Pharmacy in implementing and monitoring action plans to ensure results, quality and compliance.
  • Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current and good-standing pharmacy technician licensure in Kansas is required, within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification as Pharmacy Technician administered from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) is required before the first state license renewal per Kansas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, within 30 days of hire.
  • Immunization Certificate is preferred.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a retail pharmacy is preferred.
  • Experience with 340B pharmacy and community health center is preferred.

  • Mathematical Ability: The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
